The Missing Link in Preaching:APPLYING GOD'S WORD TO GOD'S PEOPLE
(c) 2026 ???? Pastoral preaching is simply preaching. The work of preaching is the work of a sculptor.
It is the work of chipping, sanding, and chiseling. This is why God gave the church pastors and teachers “for the equip‐ ping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12-13). Pastors preach in order to conform their congregations into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). In this book are valuable tools to help any young man ready to follow Jesus and shepherd God's people in the call of Pastor! |
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
DR. PHIL BRAY |
Lead Pastor of MaconFBC since 2011. Husband to Stephanie. 7 kids, 4 grandkids
Phil’s passion for preaching began in college when he read John Stott’s Between Two Worlds. Since then, his life has been devoted to preaching God’s Word faithfully and clearly—“saying what God has said, for the purpose God said it, in the manner in which God said it.” He holds a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Preaching from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Theology and Ph.D. in Preaching from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In!uenced by thinkers such as John Stott, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Abraham Kuruvilla, Dallas Willard, and John Piper, Phil’s preaching centers on transformation through a living relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition to pastoring, he has mentored young ministers, taught preaching and pastoral ministry at Hannibal-LaGrange University, and founded pastoral cohorts to cultivate friendship, growth, and endurance in ministry. Phil hopes to serve the people of Macon until he retires or the Lord calls him home, leaving no legacy but this: that those entrusted to his care love and delight in Christ all their days. |
